Greece: 890 new coronavirus cases, 15 deaths, 381 intubations

Greece’s health authorities announced on Wednesday 890 new coronavirus cases and 15 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals Intensive Care Units remains the same as on the past 24 hours.

It it the first time since months, that the number of Covid-related deaths are below 20 within 24 hours.

The Pharmacists’ Association of Thessaloniki announced that it stops handing out free self-tests as of today, June 9, ten days before the rest of pharmacies across the country.

The Live Briefing by the Health Ministry on Wednesday has been postponed to an hour later than usual, at 7 p.m. If something important will be announced, this post will be updated later.

The Civil Protection is expected to announce also at 7 p.m. a road map for the easing of further restrictions. they will be published on a separate post on KTG.

Vaccinations

For the first time, vaccinations were administered also yesterday, Sunday.

3,972,071 vaccinated citizens(38,1%) 6,156,375 doses

1,662,705 Partially vaccinated  2,309,366 Fully vaccinated (22,2%)

Tests in the last 24 hours: PCR 13,926 Rapid tests 28,562

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 412,420 infections (daily change: +0.2%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 39 infections are related to travel from abroad and  1604 to other confirmed cases.

51.2% of the infected are men.

There are 15 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of pandemic victims to 12,346. Of these, 95.5% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.

A total of 381 Covid-patients -from 381 a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 67 years. 65% are men. 87.7% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.

2,532 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

106 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -16.54%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 139.

The median age of new infections is 43 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 890 new cases, 2 were detected at the entrance gates of the country and 1 among travelers already in the country.
