Leader of main opposition party SYRIZA, Alexis Tsipras, accused the government for the mini lockdown on Mykonos saying that the island is the most characteristic example of the government’s total failure in dealing with the pandemic.
Visiting the island’s health center and meeting with the mayor of Mykonos he noted that “the Greek tourism and the public health are crucial matters to be addressed with such unbearable lightness”.

“Mykonos is the flagship of the Greek tourism industry and the most characteristic example of the government’s total failure regarding the management of the pandemic.
“When you do the same mistake for second consecutive time in the same year, it is not a misfire or misfortune but inefficiency,” he added.
He also accused the government of doing exactly the same mistakes it did last year and urged it to launch a campaign in order to give again the signal that the vacations on Greek islands are safe.
Note that on Thursday SYRIZA downvoted the government bill for the mandatory vaccination of workers in health facilities and elderly care homes saying that what needed is a campaign to convince citizens to get vaccination and not punishment such as leave without pay and social security.
