Hours after the Civil Protection announced the extension of the mini lockdown on the island of Zakynthos, the Regional Governor of the Ionian island Rodi Kratsa told media that this decision has been revoked.
Speaking to state broadcaster ERT on Friday morning, Kratsa said that the situation has been re-evaluated and the extension decision has been canceled.
The Regional Governor reportedly said that she was in contact with government officials arguing with the latest data and therefore the data was re-examined and the decision canceled.
By 11 o’ clock Friday morning, there was no official announcement by the Civil Protection to confirm the regional governor, though.
It should be recalled that the Civil Protection announced on Thursday evening the extension of the mini lockdown on Zakynthos and Chania until August 18, 2021.
The mini lockdown imposes night curfew and music ban and it restricts large gatherings.
