An Afghan male tried to set himself on fire outside of the US Embassy in Athens, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Greek police said that the man was at the corner of Petros Kokkalis and Gelonos Streets at 15:30 when he doused himself with a flammable liquid.
However, policemen in the area immobilized him before he set himself on fire.
The man was then brought in for questioning.
According to media information, the man wanted to protest the US policy in Afghanistan.
Thank goodness the police understood English and immobilised him rather than immolated him
