Covid-related deaths reached a new spike on Friday with 91 patients to have died in the past 24 hours. Greece’s health authorities announced that 7,805 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed also in the same period. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals has increased further to 575.
A second baby infected with Covid-19 has been intubated in a hospital in Patras, western Peloponnese. Its health condition is considered as critical. Before the intubation, the boy was baptized.
As the situation in hospitals in northern Greece deteriorates rapidly, media reported that 26 Covid-patients were intubated outside ICUs in two hospitals in Thessaloniki.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced late on Thursday additional restrictions for unvaccinated citizens and ‘mandatory’ booster shot for all those over 60 years old. More details analytically here.

575 Covid-patients are on ventilators in hospitals from 564 a day earlier.. Their median age is 65 years, 61.2% are men. 84.3% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.
Of the total patients on intubation, 475 (82.61%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 100(17.39%) are fully vaccinated.

488 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours (daily change: +15.09%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 432.
The median age of new infections is 38 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
