COVID-MAP Updated: Regions at Level 5 rise to 27, others see pandemic improvement

Greece’s health authorities placed more regions at the higher level of the epidemiological map of the country and some at lower Level as improvement has been recorded. The Covid-map rates coronavirus infections per 100,000 population. The COVID-MAP was updated on November 26, 2021.

Three regional units were placed at Level 5 from Level 4 in the previous week. These are: Grevena, Arta, Aitoloakarnania,

One regional unit, Chania on Crete, was placed at Level 3 from 2 in the previous week.

Improved is the epidemiological situation in Messinia that is placed on Level 4 from 5 and Thesprotia placed to Level 3 from 4 the previous week.

In Level 3 remain the central, North and South regions of Athens as well as the port city of Piraeus.

27 out of 50 regions that reportedly remain in Level 5 “deep red” are:

Kilkis

Imathia

Pieria

Evros

Pella

Xanthi

Drama

Messinia

Serres

Trikala

Kavala

Kozani

Karditsa

Halkidiki

Arta

Aitoloakarnania

For regions at the two highest Levels 4 and 5, Public Health measures are foreseen at the level of Region or Municipality.

1. Communication and detailed information of the local authorities for the special epidemiological characteristics of the area
2. Activation of a special EODY/ Civil Protection task force in order to:
• increase sampling controls for SARS-CoV-2
• carry out intensive and on the ground tracking
• increase the number of vaccinations as a matter of priority

Greece has been facing a constant increase of coronavirus infections, deaths, intubations and hospitalizations since mid-October.

The so-called “fourth wave of the pandemic” has been putting the country’s public hospitals under immense pressure, with Covid-patients intubated outside ICUs.

  1. Not Clever!
    All these restrictions and fines on the over 60’s, more high risk areas….then the government will shut the universities in the high risk areas, seeding the rest of Greece with the virus.
    Just like last time!
