Greece΄s health authorities announced on Tuesday 5,641 coronavirus cases and 69 Covid related deaths in past 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals decreased to 665.
A sample of the Omicron variant has been detected in the sewage of Thessaloniki, however, the real carrier has not been detected yet. According to scientists, the sample was detected on December 19.
According to EODY data released on Wednesday. In the week December 13-19:
- The total number of patients aged 4-18 is 8,355, accounting for 27% (4% from the previous week) of all cases.
- Admissions of new patients with Covid-19 were 2,344, while the total discharge due to healing was 2,310. The ratio of admission of new patients to discharge due to cure was 1.01.
- The positivity rate was 1.33% in a total of 2,324,134 laboratory tests (RT-PCR / Rapid-Ag) and 0.25% in a total of 3,967,270 self-diagnostic tests. In all tests, the positivity rate was 0.60%.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 1,049,936 infections (daily change 0.5%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 214 infections are related to travel from abroad and 2,964 to other confirmed cases.

69 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, brought the total of pandemic victims to 20,126*. Of these, 95.2% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

665 patients are on ventilators in hospitals, from 661 a day earlier. Their median age is 63 years and 78.9% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.
Of the total in intubation, 553 (83.16%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 112 (16,84%) are fully vaccinated.
3,691 Covid-patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
370 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +25.42%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 333.
The median age of new infections is 38 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
