Daily coronavirus cases broke another record on Tuesday and skyrocketed to 21,657, an unprecedented number of daily infections since the begin of the pandemic. In Attica alone a total of 9,882 infections were confirmed in past 24 hours, while the total number in the country on Monday was 9,284.
Health authorities announced also 60 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours, while the number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals increased further to 635.
Alarmed by the infection increases the government is considering to implement the new restrictions that were supposed to be into force form January 3, even before the New Year. The health Minister did not rule out even more measures against the Covid-19.

60 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, brought the total of pandemic victims to 20,557*. Of these, 95.2% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

635 patients are on ventilators in hospitals, from 629 a day earlier. Their median age is 63 years and 60.3% are men. 79.8% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.
Of the total in intubation, 540 (85.04%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 95 (14.96%) are fully vaccinated.
3,734 Covid-patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
340 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +17.65%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 324.
The median age of new infections is 38 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Wonder if this will change just like the CDC missed counted their counts by 50 freaking percent.
Maybe this is after the free rapid tests… Maybe they picked up a lot of asymptomatic cases, and now those people have had PCR… It would explain such a big increase
they don’t pick up people, people go for a test
Yes, that makes sense. If people are using the free government self tests this week and test positive but didn’t realize it because they were asymptomatic, and many times, vaccinated . I know people this has happened to!
But if it’s omicron, we will see in about a week what effects it has. Let’s watch the death and ICU rate in about 7-10 days from now. These should tell us if it’s mild or not.
