Inflation in Greece skyrockets to 9.4% in April from 8% in March

Shocking Eurostat data: Inflation in Greece skyrocketed to 9.4% in April reaching a new historic height. Inflation was 8% a month earlier, in March 2022.

According to the provisional data released by the European Statistics Authority, inflation rose in the eurozone to 7.5% from 7.4% a month earlier.

Looking at the main components of inflation in the eurozone, the energy is expected to have the highest annual rate in April (38.0%, compared to 44.4% in March), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (6.4% , compared to 5.0% in March), non -energy industrial goods (3.8%, versus 3.4% in March) and services (3.3%, versus 2.7% in March).

In Greece, annual inflation is expected to be 9.4% in April, however, the Greek Statistics Authority ELSTAT will release the data on May 15. It is estimated that ELSTAT will announce the inflation in April to have been over 10%.

The highest level of inflation in the eurozone recorded in April is in Estonia (19%), Lithuania (16.6%), Latvia (13.2%) and the Netherlands (11.2%). Lower inflation is reported in Malta (4.9%), France (5.4%), Finland (5.6%) and Italy (6.6%).
