Health Minister Thanos Plevris said that the mandatory use of mask in public indoor spaces will be lifted on June 1 and for this reason the epidemiologists’ committee advising the Greek government on coronavirus measures will meet on Wednesday and issue its recommendations on the issue.
Speaking to Skai TV on Tuesday, Plevris said that in their recommendations the health experts will determine where the mask will remain compulsory and listed public transport means, nursing homes, hospitals and supermarkets.
“It is an advantage in our country that indoor spaces are very limited during the summer months,” the minister stressed adding “the mask is a mild measure, our wish is to have fewer spaces where there will be use of mask.”
On the question that from Monday, May 16, face masks are no longer required for passengers flying to many destinations within the European Union, but Greece is among the countries keeping the mask rule, Plevris said that “we follow policies together with the other EU member states.” and noted that “because the mask is a mild restriction “all EU countries must try tohave a common line.”
Underlining that it is up to national states to decide on the implementation of the EU directive, the Health Minister noted “because the mask is a mild restriction all EU countries must try to have a common line.”
In the last two weeks, the daily confirmed coronavirus cases are below 7 to 8 thousands, the number of deaths has been of an average of below 30 on daily, while the Covid-patients in intubations are far below 200, at a level fully manageable by the public health care system.
Plevris said that despite the drop in Covid-19 cases, restrictions will most likely need to be reintroduced after summer.
What masks will be required in those places.
Hospitals accepted any type of mask except the visor type. Plus a negative rapid test and check on Covid vaccination certificate.
Why does a supermarket require a ‘special’ mask or double mask? I don’t see the logic. Supermarkets tend to be less crowded than other stores.

Or you use the Spring & Summer to upgrade the hospitals to an acceptable level instead of buying wartoys
Happy to be temporarily rid of those glorified virtue signaling talismans. But they will be back. By October the mandates will be back with a vengeance
Greece sadly lagging behind the contemporary thinking now.
