More than 50% of Greeks do not plant to go on vaccination this year, a recent poll has found out. This is a relative high percentage in a country where summer vacation is considered “a must”, especially for the residents of urban centers like capital Athens or Thessaloniki, who seek to escape the jungle of high buildings made of concrete.
According to a poll conducted by Marc on behalf of ANT1 TV:
- 51.6% state that they will not go on vacation
- 22.3% say they will go, same number of days as last year
- 16.5% less days with last year
- 6.5% more days than last year
In the age groups, 17-34 overwhelmingly state that they will go on vacation, while as the ages get older, the percentages fall, the percentage falls to 34.8% among those over 65.
Blue: will go on vacation Orange: will not go on vacation
52.5% of men say they will not go on vacation and 50.6% of women will do the same.
Residents of Athens and Attica say in a percentage of 61.4% that they will go on vacation, while the percentage in other regional units is only 36.3%.
It should be noted here that residents in several units are busy in summer with tourism and for them vacation starts when local and foreign visitors have returned to their homes.
Of those who will go on vacation:
- 34.1% will stay either in their summer house or in home village
- 27.3% in a rented room
- 23.4% in a hotel
- 7% will choose a friend’s house
- 6.3% say they will go camping
