Strong forces of the Fire Department rushed to a multi-storey resort hotel in Kokkini Hani area of Hersonissos Municipality on the island of Crete on Monday afternoon.
It was short after 5 o’ clock when the Fire Service was alerted.
Thick smoke rose from the hotel and was seen in the broader area.
The fire broke out in the kitchen, local media reported.
Guests and staff were evacuated and in safety and nobody was injured.
18 firefighters with 6 fire trucks who rushed to the compound managed to contain the fire that did not spread.
The resort hotel is among the most popular tourists destinations near Heraklion.
