Turkey in nationalist delirium: “Despicable Greeks burned our houses in 1922”

An economically desperate Turkish president bet for one more time on fierce nationalism to distract the folk from the hunger nagging their stomachs. Speaking of the war with Greece in 1922, Recep Tayyip Erdogan lashed out at “despicable Greeks who burned our houses in 1922.

Speaking on the occasion of the centenary of the Greek-Turkish war, Erdogan celebrated the “great attack” of the Turks against the Greeks, whom he presented as “pawns” in the service of “treacherous” foreign powers, with an eye on the events of 1922.

On his part and in the same wave length, Erdogan’s nationalist and racist governmental partner Devlet Bahceli called on “Athens to stop provocation in the Aegean,” as he claimed and threatened: Get it together soon or face consequences that will dwarf those of the Asia Minor Campaign in 1922.

Commenting on Erdogan’s statement, Greek government spokesman Giannis Oikonomou said that the Turkish leader “has chosen to distort history in order to serve his revisionist narrative.”

  1. This dishonest dictator can not fool today’s historians like he does with his controlled Turkish media.

This is 2022 , not 1822. His breathtaking shamelessness and unlawful provocations are self evident.
