Angry protesters defaced the shop of the 53-year-old rapist and pimp of a 12-year-old girl and set his business van on fire in the Athens district of Sepolia during a rally held on Saturday.
Protesters wrote slogans and threw paint on the shop’s front.
Minor scuffles erupted later with riot police that made limited use of tear gas and fired stun grenades, organizers complained.
Hundreds of people participated in the rally asking for justice for the heinous and repeated crime against the underage victim. they also demanded an end to indifference to other unprotected children.
The case has shocked the Greek society and revelations so far being chilling. as the child was raped by at least 11 men.
Authorities investigate whether the 53-year-old pimp H.M. raped and sexually exploited also other minors.
Meanwhile, arrests have reached five, including the of one of the child’s mother, and Minister for Citizens Protection Takis Theodorikakos said on Sunday that more will follow.
H.M. and 42-year-old G.S., an alleged client, were the first to be arrested and have been remanded custody after their testimony to judicial authorities.
Furthermore, a 33-year-old man and a 36-year-old one were arrested on Friday and Saturday. According to a police statement they had sex with the victim for a fee.
Sunday noon media report that the 36-year-old, administrative staff at Metaxas hospital in Athens, has been suspended by order of health minister Thanos Plevris, while the procedures for his dismissal has been launched.
Two more men, a Greek and one from Kazakhstan, voluntarily turned to police admitting that they had communicated with the girl via the chat website, however, they said that they did not meet with her.
Media report that police has identified more men who have inquired about sex with the girl via the website where H.M. had posted pictures and videos of the victim.
At least 213 people have reportedly expressed interest via messages on this specific site.
Police investigates whether the pimp used also other means to arrange sex meeting between the 12-year-old and potential clients.
