Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY updated its previous emergency bulletin warning of further weather deterioration in the upcoming days.
EMY warns of “successive waves of bad weather” that will affect the country from Tuesday to Saturday, January 24-27, 2023.
Main features of the bad weather are forecast to be heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms as well as snowfalls.
EMY Weather Warning
A. Tuesday (24-01-23)
Heavy rains and storms are forecast:
a. in central Macedonia until noon and
b. in Thessaly (mainly in the east) and Sporades until the evening.
2. Snowfall will occur in the central and northern continental highlands.
According to the latest forecast data, a further worsening of the weather is expected from Wednesday evening, Jan 25, until Friday, Jan 27.
Heavy rains and storms are forecast initially in the west, central and south of the country and the intense weather phenomena will gradually expand to the northeast.
Snowfall will occur in the central and northern mountains as well as in the northern semi-mountainous area,
Winds will be blowing with strong intensity in the seas.
Temperature drop is also expected.
