True Lies by Migration Minister: “Thessaloniki Metro is up and running”

Greece’s Migration Minister Notis Mitarakis claimed in an interview with UK’s BBC that the “new metro in Thessaloniki was “up and running.”

In an interview with BBC Hardtalk, Mitarakis was invited to speak about the deadly train collision last week, however, he obviously chose to speak about the achievements of the conservative Mitsotakis government, minus the train collision.

His metro claims came after he cited all the other infrastructures – a jewel that the Greeks enjoy -, except of course the railway, the safety of which the government made sure to assure in high tones until the criminal accident in Tempi.

“And since you mentioned the beginning of the public infrastructure program, you should know that the airline has been privatized and is working perfectly, there have been investments in the highways and we have top highways, the metro in Athens has been upgraded and the new metro in Thessaloniki is up and running,” He said without even blinking for the obvious lies.

As long as the metro in Thessaloniki exists and operates, the telematics center for the railways of northern Greece, which Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis would have inaugurated, if reality had not confronted him with his own lies in the most tragic way, has existed and operated as well .

Meanwhile, the Metro in Thessaloniki, two random pictures:

Apparently the Minister knows something about the metro that not a single resident of the city in northern Greece is aware of.

Unless they hide the metro in the also non-existing telematic center for the railways of northern Greece, which Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis would have visited and inaugurated on March 1 but the train collision foiled his plans.

PS slowly but gradually I’m convinced I live in a parody country.

  1. “PS slowly but gradually I’m convinced I live in a parody country.”

I’m with you there, KTG. I suspect that if Lewis Caroll, Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett and JK Rowling collaborated to write the most insane book imaginable about the governments of the world they wouldn’t get anywhere close to the madness that citizens experience in the real world every day.

  2. And he wasn’t caught in his lie? In this day and age? Did he distribute deep fakes to the press? Really now!
They started construction for the metro in 2005, promising us completion in the range of 2009-2013. Ha! It’s still nothing but construction sites! I just hope it’s completed while I am still alive.
