Greece’s Health Minister Thanos Plevris was attacked with yogurt, while he was having lunch with his wife and children in a tavern of Petralona district of Athens at Sunday noon.
In a post on Twitter, minister Plevris uploaded two pictures and blamed “brazen leftists” for the attack adding that also his two children 8 and 13 years old were hit by the yogurt cups.

A few hours later it became known that the Minister sought the emergencies in an Athens hospital where he was treated for a slight injury and swelling in the left eye.
He left the hospital in good health condition, the hospital reportedly said in a statement.
According to daily efsyn, some yogurt entered the minister’s eye.
It is still not known how many the attackers were and if they shouted any slogans.
Government spokesman Akis Skertsos stated “the attack by brazen fascists with masked features against Thanos Pleuris, his wife and small children, in broad daylight, in a restaurant in Petralona, is direct attack on democracy itself and the right of every citizen to move freely and feel safe.”
The spokesman stressed “we expect the immediate and harsh condemnation of political parties in the face of such phenomena of the destruction of society by all kinds of lovers of chaos and the extreme.”
Several government ministers rushed to Twitter to express their solidarity with Plevris .
On social media, though, and underneath the minister’s post many Greeks lashed out at the minister accusing him of “dismantling the public health system.”
