Police on the island of Rhodes arrested 23-year-old local man who is accused of the rape of a 20-year-old Irish woman in Faliraki on Monday.
The 23-year-old was arrested on Wednesday noon by police officers who were handling the case, after the complaint of the young tourist.
According to what the Irish woman told the police, on Monday night while she was having fun in a bar in Faliraki, around dawn she left there with an unknown man.
She said she woke up a few hours later with no memory of what had happened since leaving the bar, and without her underwear. She also did not find her bag and mobile phone, as reported by the local website rodiaki.gr.
The 20-year-old reported the incident to the AT Archangelou, stressing that her memory began to return gradually.
The police, using the information they had at their disposal, managed to clarify the case, ending up with the 23-year-old, who is alleged to be the perpetrator of the girl’s rape.
He was arrested and is expected to be brought before the public prosecutor of Rhodes, for further proceedings, accompanied by his lawyers.
