Christmas with Covid: Happy Festive Days for all

I’m still around three weeks after the Covid-infection, still a bit weak, still with this distorted taste that even my favorite traditional Christmas sweets like Melomakarona and glazed chestnuts, Maron glace, taste simply…tasteless. Melomakarona just taste sweet but without any aroma and the dough as exiting as white paper-napkins, while the marons have a long lasting aftertaste of benzine.

Ordered turkey and stuffing for Christmas Eve breakfast – Nothing can beat my Covid-obsession with Chinese-food. Not yet!

I’m not in the mood or have the strength for Xmas tree, decorations, cookies and stuffed turkey and do not have the endurance for festive tables with family and friends. In fact, just the idea seems horrifying as I calculated I would need over three months for a task I used to complete in 3-4 days.

With a new turbo-engine kitty at home, Trixie,  a Christmas tree would be a ticket to disaster.

Not all cats have the perfect stoic behavior as Kitty. But she’s already 8.5 years old.

A few multicolored lights make the difference as the Prosecco, some delicacies in the fridge and the Christmas movies on TV.

In this sense, Christmas 2023 has been officially “canceled” in this household even if tested negative on the third week. Yet, I’m grateful the Covid-infection had mild symptoms and did not send me to the hospital.

It’s only that I need still some days relaxing with no disturbances or people waiting something from me I can currently not deliver. I estimate to have fully recovered by December 31 or even earlier.

I wish you all Happy Festive Days and Merry Christmas with health, love and compassion for fellow humans being and animals in need.

And wear a mask, because every household I know has at least one member with Covid. Some come through it mild and some do not.

BTW- I’m in the US now visiting family and friends. There is Covid here too. However a Covid self-test 2-pack costs $24 (around 22 Euro). So there is little incentive for people who might be a little sick to check to see how sick they really are and maybe change their social plans accordingly. That’s no way to stop a pandemic!

  7. Recovering from covid can be a long and lonely road, but you’ll get there. Until then, take care and keep your chin up.

  8. Please rest and get better. We appreciate your work and your updates. May you be buoyed by the love of your cars and your readers!
