Greek-owned bulk carrier hit by rocket off Aden, Yemen

An explosion occurred on Tuesday near the Greek-owned bulk carrier “Star Nasia.”, while it was sailing in the Red Sea, approximately 53 nautical miles southwest of Aden, Yemen.

The Marshall-flagged vessel sent out distress signal, while there is no information of any damage or injuries.

ANT1 TV reported that the Greek-owned vessel was hit with a rocket.

Citing the shipping company, the TV channel said that nobody was injured and no damage has been recorded.

There is no Greek national onboard, the whole crew are Filipino nationals, media reported.

According to sources, the vessel had left from the USA bound for India and reported an explosion at a distance of 50 meters from its starboard side. 

The vessel reportedly continues its route.
