With a song with strong Greek features, entitled “ZARI”, Marina Satti will represent Greece at the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Malmö, Sweden, on May 7, 9 and 11, 2024.
The song and the video clip of the Greek participation was presented in an exclusive broadcast on Thursday evening through a special show on state broadcaster ERT.
“Zari” is a fusion of traditional, modern, and ethnic music elements, “the lyrics talk about love but also about the risks, like rolling a dice, while the images are a collage of various scenes and events from life in Greece.
The video clip was filmed on the background of emblematic locations of Athens, such as the Acropolis, Plaka, Monastiraki and the Conservatory of Herodes Atticus, with scenes filmed also in other characteristic areas of Attica, including Omonia, Lycabettus, Rafina and “Eleftherios Venizelos” Airport. The Australian Zac Wiesel directed it.

Speaking to media, Marina Satti said she decided for this particular song among five in total submitted by creators because she wanted to leave the impression of a particular imprint.
“What is the imprint you want to leave? A ballad or a dynamic piece, to have energy, temperament? And I always ended up with the latter. So we excluded the “softer” tracks and I was thinking that this should be presented on stage,” she said.
This falsetto beginning is indicative of whats to come, best to turn off.
The Eurovision has degenerated into a freak show, not to mention Turkey, Israel and Australia from different continents, different hemispheres, Haiti, Antartica next?
It’s not about music anymore, time to cancel it.
It’s never been about music, it’s a quasi political something or other (with an agenda of course). You probably don’t remember Katie Boyle back in the 1960’s – the UK always gave Nul Poiint to France, France did the same to the UK!
At least back in the day we had juries that understood music. It was the introduction of the public vote that turned it into a political free for all. I also agree that the contest has outlived its usefulness and should end.
Musically the Greek entry is a dead duck and won’t make the finals.
Greek entry is the ironic picture of Greece nowadays. sadly, foreign audience will hardly understand this.
Spot on. The professional music juries would not have picked some of the winners which we have had to endure in recent years although catlover is quite right about the politics of the voting.
