ND announced imprisoned mayor-elect in Albania, Fredi Beleri, as EU elections candidate

Ruling New Democracy announced Fredi Beleri, an ethnic Greek mayor-elect of Himaa in Albania as a candidate for the upcoming European elections.

Beledi was not able to be present at the ND event the 42 party candidates on Monday as he is in prison for buying votes and was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment in March.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis needed to consider the pros and contras to appoint 52-year-old Fredi Beleri as EU elections candidate not only because he serves a prison sentence but also thinking that his election would have a strong voice about the issues of the ethnic Greeks in Albania in the European Parliament.
Beleri’s detention and imprisonment has challenged the relations between Greece and Albania which is not an EU member state.

  1. MEP per month
    Wages €10 000
    Daily allowance. €400
    Travel expenses. €4000
    Office allowance. €4000
Only rule they must show up to vote🤣
    All aboard the gravy train.

    • Good thing is, for them that is, that they only need to punch in for work, not punch out. So on Friday they punch in for work and then go home for the weekend, cashing in on that per diem as well. Cha ching! Some journalists exposed that and were banned entry into the parliament because they ‘harassed one MEP’ (who should have been fired).

And the MEPs can only vote on proposed legislation, not initiate new one. Only the Commission and only a few commissioners can initiate new legislation. And the legislation is so big that there is no way that the MEPs can read that all before the vote. One time, there was a mess up in the order of the vote so the MEPs actually had no idea what they were voting on but they voted anyway (and usually they vote in favor). There is video of that where Nigel Farage and his collegues (when they still were in the EP) threw their hands in the air out of frustration.

It is a rubber stamping parliament and the MEPs are bribed in order to give legitimacy to the EU.
