Thousands of Greeks took to the streets on Wednesday to protest low wages and high prices and the cancelling of collective bargains for over ten years.
The strike organized by the Federation of Private sector Workers (GSEE) has paralyzed the country as workers in main public transport means joined the mobilization.
Chanting slogans for a Life with Dignity and carrying banners for higher wages but also justice for the 57 passengers killed in the Tempi train collision, protesters marched to the Greek Parliament in downtown Athens.
Impressive was the participation of personnel working for delivery platforms who fired red smoke flares.
The center of Athens remains closed to traffic still early Wednesday afternoon.
Protest marches took place also in other Greek cities like in Thessaloniki.
