A woman was injured by a big clay pot on the island of Corfu where the custom of throwing pots from windows and balconies take place on Holy Saturday morning.
The woman was passing by the old town hall, when the deputy major threw the big clay pot filled with water. She was hit and fell on the ground, with bystanders rushing to offer her aid.
The woman was only slightly injured, media reported.

According to latest information by Star TV, the woman hit on the head had to go to a hospital and received two stitches. the two young women had reportedly disregard police’s safety instructions.
In another incident in a nearby area, one more young woman, a visitor from Athens, was also hit by a clay pot and received four stitches at the hospital, Star TV reported.
Following the custom of Botis, people throw big clay pots filled with water from their balconies while the many local bands and orchestras play music.
Adopting these customs from the Venetians, the residents of Corfu banish the evil and welcome spring on the island in the Ionian Sea.
Local authorities take security measures to prevent accidents as thousands of locals and visitors flock to attend the ceremony.
