Acropolis of Athens temporary closed due to heatwave, June 12

The Culture Ministry announced on Wednesday morning that the Acropolis of Athens will be closed to visitors during the peak hours of the heatwave.

The Acropolis will be closed form 12 o’ clock noon until 5 o’ clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

Those who already have tickets for the time the archaeological site will be closed they can use them for a visit between 5 pm and 8 pm on the same day.

The Ministry did not announce if the Acropolis will be temporary closed also on Thursday and Friday, June 12-14, when according to latest heatwave forecast, temperatures in downtown Athens are expected to climb to 39-42 degrees Celsius.

Also last year, the Culture Ministry closed the Acropolis to public during the heatwave in July.
