Police in Thessaloniki arrested a 60-year-old priest for domestic violence and threats against his 48-year-old wife.
The priest was arrested after his wife filed a complaint with the police, alleging that her husband threatened her during a fight at home the previous night.
The reason for the fight was the fact that the woman was cooking late last night, causing some noise. She said that her husband threw the minced meat sh was cooking from the balcony and demanded that she stop cooking, raising his fist over her head.
She also told said that the couple had frequent arguments in the last two years after she started working.
She accused the 60-year-old priest of abusing her psychologically and insulting her. The woman had filed a complaint in the summer of 2023, when her spouse allegedly threatened to “slaughter and hang her.”
According to media, police had provided the woman with a panic button.
After the domestic violence incident on Monday, the victim told police she did not want her husband to be prosecuted but instead asked police to issue a restraining order and force him to leave their home.
The couple’s two teenager children reportedly support their father accusing their mother that all her allegations are “inside her head.”
