A sick man, a serial killer, has been roaming in the center of the city of Volos, central Greece, stabbing to death stray animals, mostly defenseless kittens but also at least one dog.
The man is wearing a hood and is covering his face to avoid being recognized.
Authorities have said to have identified the man following several incidents of brutal violence in the area, testimonies and video footage by security cameras and have issued an arrest warrant against him. However, they have not arrested him so far, that is Wednesday night.
A video broadcast by Mega TV, has captured the man, who has covered his features, wearing the hood of his sweatshirt and a hat, stabbing a kitten in the stomach in one swift action. The poor animal tries to escape, and dies as it stumbles away.
Eleven attacks on stray animals
In two weeks, there have been ten recorded incidents of stabbing stray animals in the center of Volos, while in addition to the cats, the perpetrator has allegedly killed a dog as well.
The perpetrator uses a sharp object, probably a knife, and stabs the animals in the same spot of their bodies.
Despina Yuvanidi still cannot forget the morning she went to work and found stabbed to death the stray kitten that she fed every day at her school.
Without wasting time, and knowing that 3 other kittens had been stabbed, she went to the police and filed a complaint, as all the incidents are in the center of Volos, on adjacent streets.
The photos of the stabbings of the defenseless kittens are shocking, while Dimitra, trying to collect information that will lead to the arrest of the manic perpetrator, made a post on Facebook informing the residents of Volos.
According to the animal-loving girl, there are more attacks on stray kittens, while there are also 3 other dogs that have been found brutally beaten.
So far, at least 5 people who found the stray cats and dogs stabbed have reported to police.
The police are investigating whether the perpetrator seen in the one video killing a kitten on Monday night is the same person in all the attacks, in.gr reported.
The brutal attacks on the least defenseless animals have shocked the society of Volos.
Veterinarians who examined the butchered kittens and the dog said that these are professional strikes.
It is recalled that the maximum penalty that can be given to a defendant for killing or torturing an animal is imprisonment of up to 10 years and fines of up to 50,000 euros.
PS I cannot upload the stabbing video here. In fact I cannot and do not want to even watch it.
😢😢
I sympathise with you, I is hard to believe that such scum can walk our streets. Lets hope he is caught and given the maximum punishment possible!
