Deposed SYRIZA-leader, Stefanos Kasselakis, candidates again for party leadership

With a video posted on social media, the deposed leader of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, announced his candidacy for the new leadership of Greece’s main opposition party scheduled to take place next month.

“I’m Stefanos. That’s it. We were born people, not ex officio,” Kasselakis starts his 4-minute long video in which he calls mostly young people to register as members to the party and be able to vote for the new delegates and the leadership.

“I am here, because you are here,” he says, among others, adding “I am asking you to walk this path of the new together. Your support is needed more than ever. I don’t have a party apparatus. I had and have only you. […] Let your voice be heard.”

“Let’s build a SYRIZA that does not drive us away, but brings us all together.  A new unity at the base, in society, in real life,” Kasselakis notes adding that “our SYRIZA will be autonomous and self-sufficient.”

He calls to “an end to the underestimation of human life by the Mitsotakis government. We are taking back our dignity. We are building a country that will provide social protection, security, well-paid work, and give equal opportunities to all to pursue their dreams. The government is leaving and you know it.”

Video:

Beginning of September, the majority of the party’s Central Committee decided to ousts its own leader accusing Stefanos Kasselakis of spreading division among the party members and the he destroys the historical left-wing party.

But he appears determined for a new challenge, provided that he collects the support, that is signatures, of 30 delegates, so as every other of his competitors for the leadership of SYRIZA.
