The 45-year-old police officer who was serving at the Greek Parliament has been remanded in charges of rape, sexual abuse of minors and domestic violence on Tuesday.
The man was arrested last week, following allegations by his 35-year-old wife who is also a police officer and is pregnant in their sixth child. At least three of his total five children, aged 2 to 14, confirmed the mother’s allegations in interviews with police officers and child psychologists, media reported.
Some of the children’s testimonies to experts have been leaked to media and are beyond words. The three girls aged 9, 11 and 13, have said that they were sexually abused by both parents.
They all reported of incomprehensible acts in the family home of horror in an Athens neighborhood, where the children – with the exception of the youngest one – were forced to sexual intercourse among themselves and the parents since the age of approximately 6.
Citing neighbors, media reported that at the age of 10, the boy attempted suicide falling from the balcony, unable to bear the abuse any longer.
The wife claimed years of physical, psychological and sexual abuse and that she was forced to incest. On his part, the officer denied the accusations, attributing them to her alleged mental health issues.
The man’s attorney claimed inconsistencies in witness statements, noting that the couple’s son supports the father’s account. “Not all the children back the mother’s allegations; some confirm the father’s narrative,” the lawyer said.
Spokeswoman of the Greek Police, Konstantia Dimoglidou, told Skai TV that the children said that they were sexually abused by both parents.
The defense plans to request a psychiatric evaluation of the wife, arguing her initial complaint involved only threats and minor violence.
Prosecutors have charged the officer with multiple offenses, including rape, child exploitation and illegal weapon use.
The officer remains in custody in the ward of a psychiatric facility and will be taken to prison as soon as he is being discharged.
Money Laundering authority investigates

Early Tuesday evening, the Independent Authority for Money Laundering launched an investigation into the suspect’s assets due to his posts on social media with expensive watches, cars and motorcycles.
Investigation will look into his and the family’s available income – salaries and children allowances – that could justify the man’s expensive hobby.
MEGA TV reported that there is suspicion he might have been dealing with child pornography and his three daughters told police he was filming them when they were being sexually abused.
MEGA reported further that police seized in his home a computer, a mobile and a USB and that the devices have been sent to the laboratories of police.
Investigation continues
Investigation continues and it’s not clear whether the mother will also be indicted.
Media and society are unable to comprehend why she even though also a victim could bear the abuse of her children for several years.

Some attempts of the children to speak to teachers and friends were silenced, and so were his colleagues who complained about his appropriate behavior.
Custody for the children has been temporarily withdrawn and the young victims of this unprecedented story stay in a public hospital as there is no facility for them be hosted until investigation concludes and authorities decide on their future.
History of violence
The case has raised several questions about the internal procedures of police where officers undergo psychometric tests in regular intervals but also how could an officer with a long record of violent behavior to citizens and colleagues as media listed, could not only remain in service and use a weapon but also to be promoted to a prestigious position in the Greek Parliament.
His first disciplinary reprimand came in 2002 for assaulting a taxi driver, followed by an assault against a 17-year-old who allegedly hadn’t paid a bus fare. He was convicted by a civil court in the latter case.
A first investigation for domestic violence commenced in January 2024, with a first conviction for threats of domestic violence handed down last month – along with a 12-month suspended sentence before appeal. His service weapon was also confiscated.
Media reports circulating in the Greek capital this week referred to serious psychological disorders detected in the man, as far back as 2008.
In an emotional statement to a local television station on Monday, the suspect’s mother lamented that she “gave birth to a monster…for me today is his funeral. I ask for forgiveness from the children.” Also his sister has spoke of a “monster, my brother who is dead for me.”
One of the big questions is whether the man was protected by some high-ranking personality and why his superiors did not investigate further.
