Greece’s Development Ministry announced that the “Christmas Basket” available in supermarkets throughout the country will be offered again during the festive season. It is mandatory for the supermarkets.
The government initiative of several items to be offered at reduced prices i supermarkets, known to the public as “Household Basket”, is being extended during the holiday season with the addition of a “Christmas Basket.”
The “Christmas Basket” includes six additional categories of products needed for a traditional Greek Christmas dinner.
According to an announcement by the Development Ministry. these products include lamb, goat and turkey meat, tsoureki (sweet bread) buns, New Year pies as well as chocolates.
The announcement said that “The prices of basket products are expected to be among the best on the market and – in most cases – either the same or lower than last year,” the Ministry underlined.
The “Christmas Basket” is scheduled to begin on December 11 and end on January 3, 2025.
