Greece’s National Meteorological Service has updated its Weather Emergency Bulletin warning of heavy rainfalls and storms locally, snowfalls in the mainland even at low altitudes and gale force winds.
The intense weather phenomena are forecast to decrease in intensity from the evening hours of Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
Further weakening is expected on Wednesday, January 15, however frost will persist until Friday, January 17, mainly in central and northern Greece, which will be strong locally in the northwest of the country.
Snowfalls have been affecting mostly the north and the south central parts of the country since Sunday have caused power outages and forced motorists to use snow-chains and other measures of traffic safety – because Greeks believe they can do without.

Wow, I’m embarrassed to call myself Greek . I have photos that would make your skin crawl. I wouldn’t even send my dog there if he needed medical attention.
