A rainfall forecast hours ago and the residents of Alimos as well as passing by motorists found themselves to be watching the same film: The rain brought the lid of sewage to ‘explosion’and the main Poseidonos Avenue along the Athens Riviera was flooded with black water, right from the toilets to the street and from there to the sea where winter swimmers still enjoy the cold water.

The traffic from Glyfada to Piraeus was disrupted and not only due to the flooding water but also due to the disgusting odor.
Video:
The water management company EYDAP in charge for the issue deployed again a small truck and parked it over the lid with one of its tires securing that no more sh*t floods one of the prominent avenues of the Greek capital.
EYDAP used a truck to keep the lid on the manhole on January 13, when again a rainfall caused the lid to …explode.

The mayor of Alimos, Andreas Kondylis, speaks of a “chronic problem.”
EYDAP said in a statement that “despite efforts to regulate the system to prevent the overflow of rainwater, which illegally flows into the sewage network, from the specific lid of the sewer network due to the high intensity of the rain, this was not possible within a period of 15 minutes.”
It is emphasized that “every possible effort is being made to accelerate the work that will definitively solve the problem and enhance the drainage capacity of the network locally. At the same time, the Company is also moving forward with the long-term solution of the Relief Pipeline along Vouliagmeni Avenue, as part of its investment plan of 2.1 billion euros”.
“Finally, according to experts, there is no public health issue, due to the high degree of dilution (above 10:1), in combination with the ongoing rainfall”, concludes EYDAP.
However, not permanent solution has been found other than the trucks of the water company in Greece 2025.
PS they could use a chain and a locker or something…
