As spring begins, bears in the Bear Protection Center Arcturos emerged from their dens and started enjoying the new cycle of life.
The Bear Protection Center of Arcturos in Nymfaio, northern Greece, has opened its doors again for visitors as spring has arrived there and the animals under its protection woke up from their 3-month long hibernation.
Small and bigger bears are enjoying the friendly temperatures and the sunny days, Arcturos said in a press release, accompanying with a video.
In addition to the appetite for food, each bear immediately started doing what it had missed the most, the press release noted:
– Patrick with his beloved friend Louisa, playing and somersaulting in the snow.
– Duke dives into his pool, from which he only comes out after he has had enough.
– George climbs the trees and enjoys the view from above.
– Sandy, as always, stayed in her den until the last moment and woke up last.
– Mira, when she woke up, looked… lost, as if after a deep sleep.

However, in the world of the Bear Protection Center, there are also “problems”. The winter hibernation was not enough to melt the ice that – for some unknown reason – was created between Sasha and Alexandra. The two former friends seem to have not found each other yet and continue to avoid each other, Arcturus added.
Now, the Bear Protection Center is accepting visitors again.
Those interested can visit it on weekends and weekdays except Wednesdays 10.00-17.00 (tour hours: 10.00, 11.00, 12.00, 13.00, 14.00, 15.00, 16.00, 16.30).
Protection Center Arcturos currently hosts 26 bears.
