An aftershock of 3.6 R occurred 20 minutes later.

It was the third earthquake of more than 4 R in the last 24 hours and with the same epicenter.

According to the Mayor of Mandoudi, cracks appeared in 50 houses and buildings including schools in the area of Prokopi and Mandoudi, mostly in old houses.

At least 3 to 4 houses are deemed unsuitable for habitation and will be demolished, mayor Giorgos Tsampourniotis reportedly said and he asked that the area is declared in “state of emergency.”

A team of the Directorate for the Restoration of the Effects of Natural Disasters (DAEFK) has been carrying out inspections of buildings in Prokopi and Mantoudi, since early Monday morning.

Head of Earthquake Planning and Protection, Efthymios Lekkas said that “a mild seismic activity is underway in the Central-Northern Evia region. This activity has been repeated many times in the past. It includes small earthquakes that do not exceed 5 Richter and much smaller and the characteristic is that this activity lasts for a few days, based on the data we have so far.”

Nobody was injured from any of the four earthquakes striking Evia since early Sunday morning.
