Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather emergency bulletin warning of high temperatures, powerful storms and very strong winds reaching up to 9 Beaufort.
According to EMY, the high temperatures will continue until today, Friday, June 27, while from the afternoon, locally strong storms are expected in northern Greece, which will be temporarily accompanied by very strong winds (bourinia).
EMY Weather Warning
A. The temperature today will reach 39 to 41 degrees Celsius in the mainland and 36 to 38 degrees Celsius in the island country. Tomorrow, Saturday, June 28, temperature will drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, while on Sunday, June 29, it will not exceed 32 to 34 degrees Celsius.
B. Strong storms will occur from Friday afternoon in places in Western and Central Macedonia and from the evening in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. The strong weather phenomena are expected to cease in the morning hours of Saturday, June 28, 2025.
C. Winds will gradually strengthen throughout the country from Saturday, June 28, and on Sunday will reach up to 9 Beaufort in the areas of the Cyclades island, Crete, the Dodecanese and the islands of the Eastern Aegean Sea and up to 8 Beaufort in Evia, Attica and the eastern Peloponnese.
