Tourist falls from Lycabettus Hill in Athens, while taking a selfie

A young tourist fell from a cliff on Lycabettus Hill in central Athens early  Tuesday morning. He has been hospitalized with injuries. He was allegedly attempting to take a selfie.

The 25-year-old man fell into the deep void from the edge of courtyard  of Agios Georgios chapel, first on the rocks below and then into the paved path leading to the stairs.

People also on Lycabettus Hill saw the man’s fall and called the ambulance.

A rapid response motorcycle from the Greek Emergency Medical Service (EKAV) arrived in the area first, along with forces of the fire brigade.

With rescue equipment, approached the injured man and transported him away from the scene, using the cable car.removed him from the scene.

According to media information, the young tourist allegedly told the ambulance rescuers that he fell while he was trying to take a selfie.

It should be noted that strong winds have been blowing in the area.

He is hospitalized in Gennimatas Hospital reportedly in good condition.

Police investigates the incident.
