Air raid sirens to sound “alarm” across Greece on Oct 1

Air raid sirens will sound “alarm” across Greece on upcoming Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The Civil Defense alarm sirens activation is part of the large-scale military exercise “Parmenion 2025.”

“The activation of all Civil Defense alarm sirens is a test and should not worry the public,” Greek Police said in a statement.

Simultaneously with the test activation of all the Civil Defense alarm sirens, the bells of the Churches will also be rung, with a series of short chimes at a rapid pace lasting three (3′) minutes, the police statement  underlined.

The sirens will sound as follows:

To summarize: KTG understands that sirens will go on and off from 11 in the morning until 1 o’ clock in the afternoon.

PS Do not hurry up and seek the nearest air-raid shelter. There aren’t any and if there are any at all only authorities (may) know where exactly.

Some years ago, I read that there are civilian meeting points for the case of emergencies in several suburbs in Athens, but I never found out where exactly they were.

In similar sirens tests in previous years, KTG got some feedback by its readers that no sirens were heard in their areas. Also, once, the siren in our neighborhood was sleeping through out the test.

So, good luck and enjoy the sirens sound. It’s a pure test, after all.

  1. I think your headline should be “Air raid sirens to sound “alarm” across Greece on Oct 1 except for Corfu” !. Once again, no alarms heard here in the SW of Corfu.
