Four people incl. little girl die when refugee boat capsizes off Lesvos

Οne man, two women and a little girl are the tragic toll of a boat wreck carrying refugees and migrants from the Turkish coast to the Greek island of Lesvos.

The shipwreck occurred early on Tuesday morning, October 7,  in the area of Tsilia in ​​Gera in southern Lesvos, while winds of 7 Beaufort prevailed in the area.

The boat hit the rocky shore, with the waves to be reportedly one and a half meter high.

34 people survived and made it to shore and where they were picked up by the Coast Guard. The survivors informed officers that three adults and a child were missing.

In a Search And Rescue operation that was immediately launched the four bodies were located and recovered.

Survivors were transferred to the Kara Tepe facility.

All 34+4 people on the boat were of African origin.

In a similar incident on Monday, October 6, another woman lost her life when the speed boat carrying 17 refugees fell in the water again off Lesvos.
