The vice-president of the scandalous OPEKEPE organization, Ioannis Kaimakamis, resigned from his position it was announced at an official state document on Monday.
His resignation was submitted some ten days ago and thus following his testimony (October 9) to the committee investigating the OPEKEPE scandal where million of euros from the EU agricultural funds were given as subsidies to fake farmers for non-existing livestock flocks, pastures and agricultural land.
Kaimakamis’ testimony revealed unbelievable things that confirmed in the eyes of many Greeks the “working ethos” of state officials.
The man admitted among others that:He was working as a “part-time” vice president, did not go to work every day but whenever it was deemed necessary, as he was an …administrator. Some media reported that he had a monthly salary of over 3,000 euros.
The former vice must have been a very multi-tasked businessman as at the same time he was also a shareholder in a feed company, worked as a consultant in a private agri-food company and his family received agricultural subsidies, media noted citing members of opposition parties.
During his testimony at the investigative committee, Kaimakamis admitted:
His family receives agricultural subsidies from the same organization he manages.
He acknowledged “an obvious conflict of interest”, and said it this is so, he would resign.
He works “part-time” at OPEKEPE, while at the same time maintaining a private business.”
According to MEGA TV on Monday, the resignation has not been wrapped up still 18 days after his testimony and the resignation he submitted to Costas Tsiaras, the Minister in charge of OPEKEPE and for Rural Development & Agriculture.
Newspaper efsyn.gr recalled that Ioannis Kaimakamis, a member of New Democracy, was a “personal choice of Tsiaras” and this was the only criterion for his placement in such a critical position, so he admitted during his testimony.
PS Even resignations have turned too bureaucratic under ND, especially when it comes to loot funds.

This is the norm in Greece
Unbelievable, it is just scandalous how these people get away with it .
But the same every where.
