“Greece ranks among the top 10 destinations worldwide” says Tourism Minister

“Greece ranks among the top 10 destinations worldwide. This is a major success for our country, which is of course also attributed to the work, expertise, and passion of the people working in tourism,” Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said. ” The data available so far indicate that 2025 will be another milestone for Greek tourism-a new record year, both in terms of travel flows and revenues,” she pointed out.

Human capital-the workforce, employees-is the strongest competitive asset of Greek tourism, Kefalogianni said on Tuesday speaking at an event titled “ Reskilling and Skills Upgrading. Tourism Is Changing. Together We Build New Skills.”

Kefalogianni noted that, within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “ Greece 2.0,” the Ministry of Tourism proceeded with the implementation of the action “ Reskilling and upskilling (upskilling/reskilling) in the tourism sector,” with a budget of approximately 45 million euros. The aim of the action was to provide theoretical training and certification to beneficiaries across the country.

Focusing on the momentum of Greek tourism, Kefalogianni stressed that in recent years it has recorded historically high performances. “ Greece ranks among the top 10 destinations worldwide. This is a major success for our country, which is of course also attributed to the work, expertise, and passion of the people working in tourism. The data available so far indicate that 2025 will be another milestone for Greek tourism-a new record year, both in terms of travel flows and revenues,” she pointed out.

At the same time, she noted that the Ministry of Tourism has set as a strategic goal the qualitative and sustainable development of tourism throughout the country, 12 months a year.

Within this framework, “ strengthening human capital is a core pillar of our strategy for tourism development. It is directly linked to adapting education and training to the modern needs of the market, as well as to the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s tourism workers-the ambassadors of the value of Greek hospitality,” the minister concluded.
