A large-scale police operation by the Directorate for Combating Organised Crime (DAOE) has been ongoing since early on Tuesday morning to dismantle a criminal organization that has installed an illegal software at gas stations to deceive customers.
According to a Greek Police statement, the criminal organization had installed the illegal software at the fuel pumps of gas stations, with the effect that drivers have being paying for more fuel than what was ultimately put into their car tanks.
More than 30 searches have been carried out simultaneously at gas stations, companies and homes throughout the country and thus in areas of Attica, Thessaloniki, Central Greece, Thessaly, Central Macedonia, as well as Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
So far, the police have arrested 10 people.
