The Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) announced on Monday the successful integration of the Greek-made ‘Kentavros’ (Centaur) anti-UAV system to the Israel Aerospace Industries’ (IAI) BARAK-MX Integrated Air and Missile Defence System, achieving a fully unified operation at the Command and Control level (C2), as demonstrated on the field.
Citing the HAI announcement, state-run news agency amna.gr reported that this achievement is the result of a multi-month, intensive, and absolutely targeted cooperation between the HAI and IAI technical teams to ensure the seamless and operationally reliable interoperability of the systems, HAI said. It added that this synergy reflects a common strategic direction: to provide final users with better flexibility and more choices against rapidly shifting threats. As it explained, the strength of the integration lies in the capability of combining Hard Kill and Soft Kill choices under a unified, centralized C2 environment.
‘Achilles’ shield’
BARAX-MX is an internationally recognized and operationally tested system that can manage a wide range of threats, from fighter jets and cruise missiles to ballistic missiles, it was noted in the statement. At the same time, HAI’s Kentavros provides critical Soft Kill capabilities to face UAV/UAS through advanced techniques of electronic support and jamming, wherever that is operationally appropriate.
A recent technical field demonstration confirmed that the two systems operate as a fully unified whole, from the detection and assessment of a threat, to cueing the target and activating Soft Kill electronic countermeasures through jamming, the HAI statement said.
The comprehensive solution is fully aligned with the philosophy and operational demands of Greek national defense’s ‘Shield of Achilles’ program, as it unifies the choices of kinetic interception and electronic warfare options under the same C2 framework.

Following the successful field demonstration, HAI Executive President Alexandros Diakopoulos stated, “The successful demonstration on the field is am important technological milestone for HAI. It confirms that the Greek technical know-how of Kentavros can be integrated into advanced air defense architectures, enhancing flexibility and scalability of response to modern threats.”
IAI President and CEO Boaz Levy noted that at a time when airborne threats are evolving rapidly and becoming increasingly accessible, modern anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense systems must be based on technological superiority and a fully integrated, multi-layered architecture.
He added, “Along with our close allies and partners in Greece, and through a substantial cooperation iwth the domestic defense industry, we are strengthening operational resilience and contributing to covering the rising defnse needs at European level. With solutions that combine proven technology with a unified command and control, we provide countries withe the capability to effectively protect their air space, their critical infrastructure, and their citizens,” he added.
As the HAI statement concluded, “By bridging the anti-missile defense with electronic warfare, the integration of the BARAK-MX/Kentavros solution forms a powerful, mulitilevel and cost-effective shield, able to effectively protect the Greek airspace against the full specturum of modern airborne threats.” Both systems have been operationally and effectively tested in demanding environments, it said.
