Greece Weather Warning: Heavy rainfalls, storms and gale-force winds

Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning of two consecutive atmospheric disturbances forecast to affect the country with heavy rainfalls and storms and very strong winds blowing with intensity 7 to 8 Beaufort.

The first front is expected to hit Greece from the West from early evening on Wednesday, February 11,until the morning hours of Thursday, February 12. After a break, the second front is expected from late afternoon on Thursday until the morning hours of Friday, February 13, 2026.

EMY Weather Warning and affected areas

A. Heavy rains and storms:
a. in the Ionian islands from Lefkada and further south, the western Peloponnese and the western mainland from early evening on Wednesday until the early hours of Thursday
b. in Crete, the Cyclades and the eastern Peloponnese during the night from Wednesday to Thursday
c. in eastern Macedonia and Thrace (mainly in Thassos, Samothrace and coastal areas of mainland areas) on Thursday until the morning hours
d. in the Dodecanese and the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean on Thursday until the morning hours.

B. Very strong to gale-force south southwesterly winds will blow,
– in western Greece on Wednesday night and
– in the southern Aegean (area of ​​Crete, Cyclades and Dodecanese) on Thursday until the morning hours.

C. Heavy rains and storms
a. in the western and southern Peloponnese and the Ionian islands of Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Ithaca from late Thursday afternoon until the early morning hours of Friday
b. in Crete and the Cyclades during the night of Thursday to Friday.
c. in the Dodecanese and the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean on Friday until the morning hours.
d. in Thrace temporarily on the morning of Friday

B. Very strong to gale-force winds will blow,
– in western Greece on Thursday evening (south-southwesterly winds) and in the morning hours of Friday (west-northwesterly winds) and
– in the southern Aegean (area of ​​Crete, Cyclades and Dodecanese) on Friday until noon.
