Unknown persons beat up the CEO of debt collection agency Cepal in Athens on Tuesday morning.
The perpetrators had reportedly had ambushed the victim and trapped him in his car in central Athens.
The beating was confirmed by the agency that is well-known in Greece.
In a statement, the debt collection agency stated that CEO Theodoros Athanasopoulos was “in good health” and that the agency is cooperating with authorities to investigate the incident.
Cepal condemned the attack, saying “the company categorically condemns all forms of violence. Such actions have no place in a law-abiding society.”
While, Greek police is investigating the incident and no arrests or detention have been made so far, it is not clear whether the perpetrators were angry debtors or they had a different motive.
