Heated dispute between OlympiakosFC owner Marinakis and PM’s nephew (videos)

A heated dispute between owner of Olympiacos FC and media companies, Vaggelis Marinakis, and the nephew of Prime Minister, once number two in the conservative government of New Democracy, Grigoris Dimitriadis, during Euroleague basketball final game Olympiacos-Real Madrid on Sunday evening.

The argument took place before the game kicked off and in front of cameras and mobile phones and raised questions about the real reason behind the beef.

Several videos posted on social media showed Vaggelis Marinakis and Grigoris Dimitriadis shouting at each other using very rude and insulting expressions even though the sound was not always clear.

At some point, somebody next to Marinakis even threw an Olympiacos scarf at Dimitriadis.

Marinakis was shown with a torn T-shirt which allegedly happened when one of his body guards pushed him back.

The two men were separated with barriers, their own security personnel held them back avoiding a physical clash between the two.

Still at noon on Monday, the exact reason for the strong argument has not been known. Several scenarios alleged that one of them swore at the mother of the other and spit at him, while the other side claimed that he punched him in response.

Former general secretary Dimitriadis was reportedly implicated in the phone tapping scandal targeting opposition politicians, government ministers, journalists and other personalities of the public life.

He was forced to resign from his position in 2022 after the scandal broke out.
