Greece: Summer Sales, July 15-August 31, 2011

Are you ready? Greece’s Summer Sales start on Friday, July 15th and run until August 31st. Amid recession and economic depression powerful discounts up to 50% and 70% off the original prices are set to attract consumers and help shop owners overcome the economic crisis.

Already many of you may have seen reductions praised at shop windows. And as I checked while walking on the main shopping street of a south suburb of Athens prices are really attractive. I couldn’t help but surrender to summer sales sirens. I bought a pair of modern Italian sandals for just 25 euro 🙂

OK, I must admit I didn’t check for clothes, because I buy my summer blouses from a guy at the open market. I don’t know how he manages to sell really fine in structure and design, airy blouses and dresses made of silk and Made in Italy tag  for just 15-25 euro. No wonder he is my favorite for the last three years once I discovered him…

Anyway as you don’t know this guy, I advise you to go shopping and take advantage of the summer sales and why not… help also the crisis-ridden retailers with the much-needed revenues.

Don’t you feel a pinch in your heart to see all these shops been closed down in the recent 18 months?

Consumption dropped sharply in the last 1,5 year after strict austerity measures and tax hikes scared consumers off the streets forcing them to buy only the absolute necessities.

The National Federation of Greek Trade (ESEE) promises the ‘biggest discounts in recent years” and urges shoppers to take advantage of the reduced prices.

  1. I was at Athens Heart on Πειραιώς this afternoon. Considering the fact that today was the first day of summer sales, the mall was pretty dead. The sales however, were fantastic!!! You are correct to say that we will see the “biggest discounts in recent years”.

    Happy shopping everyone!
