Thessaloniki: Greek Policemen Protest, Government Fulfills their Demands

Several hundred Greek policemen, firemen and coastal guards gathered for a protest in Thessaloniki on Friday afternoon. The demonstration was peaceful but weird things happened. a) riot policemen were taking care that their colleagues won’t lose control b) the government gave a payment order of 1 million euro to fund  overdue payments for transport expenses. Those expenses weren’t paid since over a year. c) The Ministry for Citizens’ Protection withdrew its decision not to pay overtime work like work more than 5 days per week and night work.

This will pave the way for other groups to stick on their demands, but the government needs the policemen when crime is on the rise and social unrest is expected, right?
