Survey: Why Should a Greek Gov’t MP Resign on … Monday?
Posted by keeptalkinggreece in Politics
Ruling party PASOK MP Thomas Rompopoulos announced on Friday that he will resign on … Monday! It is not the first time that Rompopoulos threatens to resign. he did so last June, when he threatened to vote against the Mid-Term Fiscal Plan dictated by the Troika. However he changed his mind, he voted for the plan and kept his seat as well. Now he wants to resign over disagreement on the national labour bargain (multi-bill) because as he says: He can’t be in a Parliament where he is not able to take decisions. PASOK threatens to expel his MPs if they vote against the citizens torturing bills.
It looks that when Rompopoulos resign, he will not continue his political carrier and his empty seat will be undertaken by actress Mary Akrivopoulou. PASOK’s majority will remain 154 seats iin a Parliament of 300.
So far, so good.
However the question as to why he doesn’t resign today and will wait until “Monday” puzzles a lot of people in Greek internet forums. So I thought to launch a survey among KTG-Readers and try to come closer to the ‘political thought’ of a member of the Greek Parliament.
Please, keep in mind two important factors 1) he didn’t specified which “Monday” 2) The multi-bill will be voted on Thursday, Oct 20, 2011.
Survey:
Why should a MP resign on Monday?
Because
A he waits his salary/bonuses payment (mid of the month + end of the month)
B he doesn’t want to miss work-free Sunday
C he wants to combine resignation with fitness (I start diet on… Monday)
D….?
Open to new suggestions. Thank you for participating. You won a …. smile

LOL!!! looks like you covered it but i’ll try to think of more
D: Stupid Jerk, because every MP who wants to vote against the measures should shut his mouth before and just vote
because he wants something from the goverment and is bargaining with his seat, he is now saying he might decide not to resign but to go independent, in guessing the goverment didnt believe him and told him go ahead resign another of ours will take your place. so now he says i will go independent and you will lose one more seat in parliament unless you do a b or c for me. either that or he has a huge party planned for the weekend and needs to use the free car to get there and put it on state expensses.
Birthday, Wife’s name day?
D. He wants an orderly exit. Finish loose ends, clean up his desk, give his party time to get the new ‘girl’ on line, say fair-well to his voters, get all the paperwork in order… and suddenly I wake up!!!
