Greece’s Pharmacies On Work Stoppage, Jan 24/12

Pharmacies in Greece will remain closed on Tuesday afternoon, Jan 24, 2012 after a decision of Panhellenic Pharmacists Association to protest the new opening hours imposed by the Greek government and the Troika. At the same time there will be a debate in the Parliament concerning the amendment bill “freeing” the opening hours of the pharmacies. The bill provides that pharmacies have to be open on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday afternoon.

“The changes in the working hours changes circumvents any notion of safety in the administration and distribution of medicines by tired pharmacists, while there will be no fix working hours, no time schedules for pharmacies on duty during the night” the association said in a statement adding that the new bill is against the EU Law.
