A group of 50 Syrian nationals tried to storm the embassy of Syria in Psychiko suburb of Athens in the early morning hours of Saturday. They entered the yard of the embassy armed with stones and wooden sticks. The protesters gathered at the Syrian embassy after reports of a bloodbath of in the city of Homs that claimed the lives of more than 200 people on Friday. The protesters caused damage at the guards’ outpost, one motorcycle and broke two windows.
Greek police intervened and detained 13 protesters .
Similar protests took place in London, USA, Sweden, Spain and Germany.
The UN estimates that the death toll in Syria is over 5,400 people, since the protests against the Assad regime started one year ago.
